Let’s say you have Chronic pain

  • A massage therapist might think it’s caused by a tight muscle therefore you need a massage
  • A physical therapist may think it’s caused by a joint or muscle imbalance and recommends stretching and exercise
  • An orthopedist may think it’s caused by a joint or nerve issue and prescribes medication (pain killers, muscle relaxants, or injections)
  • A chiropractor may think it’s caused by a joint issue and performs an adjustment

All these treatments work, however, most of our patients have tried these and not found success

Brain Based Pain

Pure brain-based pain occurs when your brain tells you that your body hurts, even though there may be no physical injury. For example, Phantom Limb pain is when a person feels pain in the limb that is no longer there. This is a clear sign of brain-based pain.

The person is either given medication to cope with the pain they say it is “all in their head” or sent to a therapist. But this pain is physical NOT psychological. It is a physical alteration of brain activation that causes the pain. Here at Georgia Chiropractic Neurology Center our Doctors are trained to determine which aspects of the condition is brain based, therefore allowing us to effectively treat the actual source of the individual’s pain.

Body Based Chronic Pain

People get different types of injuries such as; pulling a muscle, tissue tear or a disc injury. Pain from these injuries can be coming from different tissues even in the same area. For instance, your can get pain from a tendon and from the fascia around the tendon. Each tissue may need a different treatment.

Most people will see a specialist for their specific injury, but the problem with this is, the specialist is only looking through the lens of their specific expertise and may miss seeing the whole picture.

If the treatments do not address all of the different problem areas people will often only experience partial relief and continue to live life with chronic pain.

Chronic pain syndromes are the cause of debilitating suffering for many individuals. We understand how to help people heal from chronic pain because our doctors examine and treat the whole person.
